This Week in Eagle Athletics

February 16, 2016

Junior Boys? More like Junior Beasts. The team has confirmed our predictions and hustled into the second round of the Fraser Valley’s. After a close loss in the district finals last week, the boys finished second in Langley, and they’re not stopping there. They crushed Mission in the opening round of the Fraser Valley’s, finishing the fourth with a scoreboard reading 55-35. Tomorrow they rematch against Walnut Grove, 3pm at WGSS.

The Junior Girls impressed as well, qualifying for the Fraser Valley’s, but they unfortunately lost in the opening round to Maple Ridge Secondary. Not to worry, they’ll come back even stronger next season.

The Senior Girls have officially scored the last basket, and we couldn’t be more proud of them. Alexa Lyon, number 18, said in a recent Instagram appreciation post,  “This past season has truly been amazing. Walking into our first year being AAA, I think we did pretty good: going 14-6, winning a tournament up in Hope, coming 3rd in an Abbotsford tournament and tying for first place in our division with 8-2. That’s pretty good!”

The Senior Boys play Pitt Meadows tonight at 7:30pm, and Rick HansenFriday at 8. Don’t miss them!

News in other sports is right around the corner, as badminton, soccer, and rugby begin. If you’re interested in Track and Field, be sure to see Mrs. McKinnon!
