On Wednesday, September 27th, R.E. Mountain had its first major grad event. Around three hundred students dressed up, got on busses and headed for Coal Harbour for the annual Grad Cruise on the HCMS Brittania. The weather was amazing as we cruised up the Burrard Inlet, under the Iron Worker’s Memorial Bridge and up Indian Arm to Deep Cove and then back. There was lots of food, fun, picture taking and dancing. We are so fortunate to have such dedicated staff at the school. From Mrs. McKinnon who has organized this event on behalf of the grads for years to the other eighteen staff that came to help and supervise. I have never been at a school where staff were so willing to give up their time to ensure that events like this are as successful as they are.
This is also an awesome grad class. It was delightful to be able to hang out with them on the cruise as they began this celebratory year. I look forward to the leadership they will provide this year, helping to set the culture and climate of learning and respect for the upcoming classes. They have been the beneficiaries of the atmosphere that has been set by others before them and I trust they will continue to leave that legacy as they work through their senior year.
