Model United Nations (or MUN for short) is a simulation of the United Nations. Participants are asked to assume the role of a nation to represent in a session of a UN committee and will debate, consult, and negotiate in order to develop resolutions for a variety of world issues. Notable persons who have been involved in Model UN include Barack Obama and Ban Ki-Moon, former Secretary-General of the United Nations.
