REMSS Debate Club and CAS Project raises $1300 for Shelterbox Canada

On Friday, February 22, 77 elementary and middle school debaters from across the Lower Mainland came to RE Mountain for the 2nd Annual RE Mountain Novice Invitational Debate Tournament.

Themed for natural disasters, in recognition for the work of Shelterbox Canada, the debaters participated in 2 rounds of prepared debate and 1 round of impromptu debate.  Led by co-tournament directors Gabrielle Wong and Rebecca Amisano, along with 16 volunteers from the REM Debate Club and teacher sponsors Mr. Sharma and Mr. Whitlock, the participants received constructive feedback while experiencing the ups and downs of a real debate tournament.  The biggest winners were the $1300 raised for Shelterbox Canada and $500 raised for the REM Debate Club.
