REMSS Pre-IB and IB Programs

We had scheduled a Pre-IB and IB information evening for parents on Tuesday, January 11th at 7:00pm. Unfortunately, due to the current health restrictions on gatherings, we are no longer able to hold this meeting.

Instead, we have released an information video on the Pre-IB and IB programs which is posted to our website. This video is intended for parents of students in Grades 8, 9 and 10 who are interested in learning more about these two district programs that are offered at REMSS. The video addresses everything you need to know about the IB as a university preparation program as well as the application process.

FAQ about IB

REMSS Pre-IB Program

The REMSS Pre-IB Program, in Grades 9 and 10, is an academic program that is designed to prepare students for the challenges of the IB Diploma Programme. While the curriculum for Pre-IB 9 and 10 is the same as the BC Ministry curriculum, there is an additional focus on subject knowledge and skills required for success in the IB. It is highly advised that students who would like to pursue the IB Diploma in Grade 11 apply for the Pre-IB program.

Successful IB Diploma candidates are eligible for advanced credit, advanced placement and preferred admission in the world’s leading universities. IB Diploma candidates are also awarded university transfer credits in most universities upon successful completion of their coursework in IB. In Langley, the International Baccalaureate Programme and the Pre-IB Program are District Programs offered at R.E. Mountain Secondary School and are open to all residents of Langley.

The International Baccalaureate Organization has prepared a “What is IB?” brochure that explains the rationale behind the program, the expectations of the program and the benefits that students can expect to gain. You can access the IB Diploma page here for information from IB.
